[edit] Description
In the Alchemical Tarot most of the images are paintings based upon of black and white etchings and drawings from old alchemical manuscripts. To make the deck more attractive all the images have been painted. The original art for the deck is painted on glazed earthenware tiles about 7" by 3 " (18 X 8 cm). Alchemy is a spiritual process of working on oneself to obtain the ultimate goal in life: liberation. The process itself is called the Great Work. Just like the tarot, alchemical images are powerful archetypes. They have many levels of meaning, and in combination with tarot offer a great tool for self-exploration.

[edit] Deck creation and/or publication process
In the late eighties when Dirk's brother was renovating his house he saw some leftover new tiles lying next to a shed. This gave him the idea to paint a tarot deck on tiles. Thus the Hermetic Tarot (Dirk Gillabel) and the Alchemical Tarot were born.
