The Cosmo Meditations deck has it's roots in Carol's experiences and paintings of the 1960's ( see paintings gallery section of this site). The tarot major arcana is seen as a continuing sequence, with one card leading into the next as a level of experience on the path to higher consciousness. It is a vision of awakening, the cards flow from one to the next revealing a process of inner growth and the opening of higher consciousness. This is an expanded 24 card major arcana tarot deck. The two additional cards were added in the 1980's, 23 is Nemesis or collective karma, and 24 is Chiron, the healer. The concepts of the first 22 images originated in Carol's earliest deck, Taro, and were re-painted in 1970 in new versions for the Astrotaro. These images were then taken one step further in the Cosmo paintings, completed in 1985. The original art of The Cosmo Meditations deck is a series of paintings, each one 18 x 24 on watercolor paper, painted with acrylics. Since the paintings are large it previously was only possible to reproduce them by using photographs and later laser prints made from photographs which had themselves been painted over (the laser edition). Finally with digital photography and printing the cards can be made directly from the paintings. In the new digitaledition the colors are much closer to the original artwork. Previous editions include the photo decks of the 1980's. The laser edition of the early 90's was an improvement over the photo decks, but the colors still were darker than the actual paintings.
