[edit] Description
De Quintessence van de Tarot (The Quintessence of the Tarot) is a Dutch book on the Tarot of Marseilles that was written by Tarot author Jack Van Driel and was based on years of intensive research. It was published by his children after his death on March 21, 2001.
In short, Van Driel puts forward the theory that the card The World is the "Quintessence" and is the key to understanding the entire Tarot. Like The Fool, it has to be seen as separate from the other 20 trumps, which are divided into 4 domains of 5 cards each. In this manner, he arrives at an intricate and well thought-out system based on numerological and symbolic associations.
