[edit] Description

Osvaldo Menegazzi also makes intricate, one of a kind Talisman Shadow Boxes. The contents are created mainly from watercolor on treated papers which are then collaged along with actual cards in a 3 dimensional manner and set in a handcrafted wooden shadow box frame usually with protective glass on the front. The main themes for these one of a kind creations fall into 3 categories: Tarot, Zodiac and, Art (some of which have Asian influences and accents such as Japanese 'Hana Fuda' cards or elements from other ancient card games). The Tarot themed shadow boxes usually include cards from the Visconti Tarocchi, a deck which Osvaldo publishes and which is also from Milan (where Osvaldo lives and works) and is the oldest known Tarot deck (estimated to be from 1450). Osvaldo's Tarot art shop Il Meneghello is within walking distance to the Visconti - Sforza castle where the remains of this ancient deck were discovered in an abandoned well.
