[edit] Deck creation and/or publication process
The collages for Hero's Journey evolved over a two year period beginning in 1993. They were created with a pair of cuticle scissors, glue sticks and stacks of old art books and whatnot. Then In 2005 - for the 10 year anniversary of this deck, Arnell spent several months painstakingly refining the detail of each handmade collaged card in Photoshop in the hopes of offering a more streamline, high quality version of this deck without altering the original collage concepts. It takes a full week to make this set. The cards are color copied off of the original set, cut out and individually pasted onto the specially designed backs and trimmed. They are then cut, laminated and trimmed a final time. The booklet was also updated in 2005 with a more sleek, professional look with thumbnail pictures of all the cards. The handcrafted boxes are sanded, painted a few layers, re-sanded to a soft texture and then collaged. They come in either warm or cool tones (a tip of the hat to the Sun or Moon) and no two are ever exactly alike.
