Nigel Jackson, born in 1963, lives in Manchester, England and is a well-known artist and illustrator specializing in the symbolism of Western Esoteric Tradition: he is deeply immersed in the traditional Tarot of 15th century Lombardy, the magical teachings of medieval-renaissance astrological philosopher-magi such as Ficino, Agrippa and Bruno and the talismanic Image-Magic of the Moorish-medieval current exemplified in the fabled grimoire the Picatrix. he works with leading Traditional Astrologer Christopher Warnock in an ongoing revival of Renaissance talismanic art creating magical images, symbolic silk banners, designs for magical jewels. He has also collaborated as illustrator of published work by authors such as Nigel Pennick and Nicholaj de Mattos Frisvold. His most recent work is that of illustrator of Christopher Warnock's important new book 'The Mansions of the Moon.'
An Illuminationist and Hermeticist in the Transcendent Tradition, Nigel has been involved for over 25 years in expressing the symbolic 'language of the gods' through his visual art which he views as an initiatory 'alchemy of the imagination.' His deck Medieval Enchantment: The Nigel Jackson Tarot has been published by Llewellyn and he is presently working on another Tarot deck for publication.
Nigel is a consecrated Bishop of the 'Ecclesia Hermetica Catholica' holding Holy Orders in Catholic and Syro-Oriental ecclesiastical successions: he is also a 'Maitre Elus Cohen' in the theurgic rite of the 'Ordre des Chevaliers Maçon Elus Cohen de l'Univers' and an initiate of a Maghribi Marabout lineage of the Khadiriyya Tariqa.
