[edit] Description
The Tarot Court Cards does what it says on the cover - it takes a look at the 16 Court Cards of the Tarot (Kings, Queens, Knights, and Pages.) Instead of looking at traditional views of these cards however, Warwick-Smith examines them afresh, discussing different ways of approaching the cards that are more helpful to modern readers. She demonstrates how the Court Cards can be more than just people, but also have relevance to all areas of life, and be influences, emotions, events, potentials, talents, character traits, and more. She also looks at four different side to each Court Card: Supporter, Detractor, Resource, and Challenge. In one chapter she explains how these cards apply to the Qabalistic Tree of Life (and subsequently how this affects the card meanings), and in further chapters she takes a look at Court Cards through history, spreads specifically for Court Cards, and how to read them.
The book is illustrated throughout with Court Cards from decks such as the Rider Waite, Thoth, Visconti-Sforza, Alchemical, Spiral, and Motherpeace, allowing the reader to see the varying styles and ways of looking at these sixteen cards.
