[edit] Description
Inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, the Tarot of the Dead is a witty, seriocomic deck with nonscenic minors that finds a lot of life in dem bones. In (almost) every card, these animated skeletons work, play, love and screw up in illuminating ways. The meanings follow the Waite-Smith model, although the Minor Arcana are decorative pips and renamed to reflect the funky whimsy of the deck's theme: Pens, Coffins, Pistols, and Reels. The Court cards are double-illustrated, so that when reversed, subtle artistic details indicate the shift in meaning.
