Hi Marco
I don't like the idea of me 'correcting' your translations! I speak no other language [bar a little turkish] and am not qualified to 'correct' anything. Already I suggested a correction in discussion and realised after that another reading was possible. I prefer a discussion, to make alternative suggestions, and seek consensus before any 'corrections', hopefully others will input as well, if there is agreement then correct. I suggest in Laura verse 'never put a foot wrong', but repetition of 'never' from second line is not stylistically good in terms of poetry, so maybe 'nor put a foot wrong' to avoid repetition of 'never'. But I say, do not correct immediately, put alternatives in discussion section, give time to sink in, and read a few times, as especially in poetry one sees a new slant one may not have seen immediately. I'll gladly offer alternatives in discussion, but leave it to you to change your main article if you are in agreement with such [or do so myself if it has been agreed].
I offer no correction for fool verse [apart from removing final 's' from 'stupids'], rather a question, in the English translation there is ambiguity between subject and object, so that one can read the same line in different ways according to perspective/intonation [ever seen those drawings where someone sees a duck, another a rabbit? this is sort of the literary equivalent, and possibly intended as such by a poet interested in numerical and linguistic puzzles]; poetical ambiguity offering a paradoxical puzzle, adds layers of meaning and paradox and perhaps here intended. But I don't know. Is there the same ambiguity in the original Italian? Or is it an artifact of the translation? I cannot answer that as I do not speak Italian, only point out to you the ambivalence in the translation and ask if there is similar amibivalence in the original. The same ambiguity is in introduction and fool verse, as I questioned in discussion. But it is a question, not a statement, meant for discussion, not 'correction', as I may be and am probably wrong.
