[edit] Decameron
Thanks for your help with my Decameron Tarot article. I went a little overboard with the links. I usually do. I'm never sure exactly what is supposed to be linked and what isn't. I always try to leave room for future articles.

[edit] Books in Foreign Language - an idea
Hello Spoonbender,
Looking at my French entry, your German entry, and Baba-Prague's question about books in Russian, I thought that perhaps one consideration is to have these growing lists of Foreign Language post-1900 publications in a list by themselves - basically heading the Tarot Books page with the following:
- Before 1900 - listed on the 'main' page (means that 'classics' from former days are here - Levi, for example);
- 1900 onwards, go into specific other language Books List (for example):
Any views on this?
For those of us that are bi- (or multi-) lingual, the common list would be fine. What I suspect will happen, however, is that listings will begin to get confused and confusing.
Also, having French or German language (and other) categories for the books makes it easier to find a book in that language by someone whose English is relatively poor... and provides a 'proper' place for translations (such as Rachel Pollacks 78 Degrees into German, or Jodorowky's into Spanish

- Hi jmd! Yes, I think that's a good idea, because it really would get confusing after a while. My book entry is Dutch actually, but I'll be sure to add it to the list of Dutch books once that is up.
- Spoonbender 00:49, 25 January 2006 (PST)
- oops - my Dutch is as poor as my German! my apologies ... crawling under a limited bilingual rock

Hello Spoonbender
I made a brief reply to your question in my talk - will check into it tomorrow Jmd 06:14, 26 January 2006 (PST)
- OK, thanks a lot! Spoonbender 06:17, 26 January 2006 (PST)
Seems like the Categories ARE working, but we have simply not created the description for most of these yet.
I have started in some, and will slowly add to them.

[edit] Categories
"By the way, there seems to be something wrong with the categories at the bottom of the pages, e.g. on the page of De Quintessence van de Tarot. Any ways to fix this? Spoonbender 12:17, 25 January 2006 (PST)"
Hi Spoonbender, Sorry I didn't get back to you on this, looks like you and JMD are sorting it out.
I want to thank you for all the effort you've been putting it. Your pages are great.
best,
robert
- That's OK - I figured you were busy. Thanks a lot for your reply!! I'm really happy and proud to be able to take part in this wonderful project!

"Questions
Robert, I was wondering what exactly should be written in the "Creator's comments" section on pages about Tarot decks. Is it meant to be a place where the creator him/herself solely can add his/her comments, or can we also quote the LWB? And I was thinking that it might be a good idea to have the page "Parks and gardens" also include "Museums and other places of interest" (where we can, for example, link to a page about that famous fresco of Tarocchi players). What do you think? Spoonbender 04:53, 27 January 2006 (PST)"
Hi Spoonbender,
Museums and places where cards are kept is an EXCELLENT suggestion!!!!! That would be a wonderful resource. Let's just try to keep it pretty strictly tarot related. Perhaps 'Places of interest' could replace Parks and Gardens, which become a subheading, and 'pre-1900 original deck and book location' another heading at the same level as 'Places of interest'?
Good question. Creators comments could include a quote from the creator (with reference given) - Waite does this in a couple of places that may be useful too. Makes sense to me. Let's try it.

Hi Spoonbender, The page Parks and gardens has been updated to "places of interest", but I'm not sure the title has been changed. The idea behind it is to link to resources that refer to Places of Interest dealing with Tarot. Thoughts????

[edit] Thanks
Hi spoonbender,
Glad you like the update.
And thanks for the nice comment on Le Pendu, it was a great experience rebuilding the card, I think it might have given me a glimpse into what JC Flornoy has experienced.. the connection to the detail the artist included. It was a great experience.
I really appreciate all of your contributions. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions to improve the site.
best,
robert

[edit] Thanks spoonbender!
Thanks for the note on the MT TdM! (had to figure out who wrote the note!) Have fixed.
Again, THANK YOU. How are you enjoying tarotpedia? Are you addicted to the Recent Changes page? Hee hee.
Take care, le pendu robert
- Thanks for fixing it!! Oops, I guess I forgot to sign with my name - I'm only just up, so I'm still a bit sleepy ;-) . I am enjoying tarotpedia IMMENSELY. Almost every time I take a break from studying, I check on here!
- Did you see that I started adding to the pages of the Magician and the High Priestess? Is that the kind of description you had in mind, because I was very unsure on how to proceed at first... Please let me know if I made any mistakes or if historical inaccuracies slipped in!
- Spoonbender 01:03, 2 February 2006 (PST)
Absolutely wonderful in my opinion - I did not realise you had started the page, and went there to open begin what would have been a far poorer page!
Thanks for getting this one (and hence the set!) going in such a manner.
--Jmd 04:22, 2 February 2006 (PST)
- Thanks a lot Jmd! And thank you for adding to the page of the High Priestess as well.
- Let's hope a lot of other people will be more inclined to contribute to these pages now!
- Spoonbender 06:13, 2 February 2006 (PST)
- Hey spoonbender!
- Thank you SO MUCH for starting those pages! I've been distracted with the History section the past few nights and have not had time to pay attention to other developments! You've done an amazing job getting those going. How BRAVE you are.. I look at those empty pages and think "OMG, WHERE do I begin??"
- We're so lucky to have you here, and I'm delighted you find Tarotpedia as exciting as I do, I just keep thinking "This is going to be great!" But mostly, every time I see a new entry by you, I'm just really pleased. Thanks! I hope more people get in the swing too.
- Going to check the Recent Changes now! ; ) le pendu 16:18, 2 February 2006 (PST)
[edit] Photoshop Images for Tarotpedia
Hi Spoonbender,
I open the file, then go to the Edit menu and "Save for Web". Then I choose jpeg, and set the quality to roughly 60. Also, I will reset the image size on the image size tab to between 250-350 wide, for 99% of images, that should be enough. Then I save the image.
Hope that helps.

[edit] Waite-Colman Smith vs Waite-Smith
Greetings Spoonbender,
just thought I'd let you know personally, rather than only altering the Style Guide, given your formidable input.
Seems like our decision, which was the result of mainly my 'push' in this matter, was based on an incorrect assumption: Pamela Colman Smith's surname is not both of the last names, but only 'Smith'.
The Style Guide is therefore being altered to reflect this, and formerly written 'Waite-Colman Smith' (deck/s) will be changed over time to 'Waite-Smith' (deck/s).
Also another great thankyou both for your grace in this matter, and your very significant contributions to building Tarotpedia.
--Jmd 15:11, 9 February 2006 (PST)
- Thanks for letting me know! I'll change the names in the Cards sections when I get back from my trip on Sunday :-) . -- Spoonbender 20:09, 9 February 2006 (PST)
