[edit] Description

The Ibis Tarot is artist Josef Machynka's modern revision of Wegener's rendering of a Tarot in the Falconnier Pattern, executed in bold color and meticulous occult detail. Drawing on his own occult research, Wegener's monochrome major arcana images, Saint-Germain's monochrome minor arcana images, and Paul Christian's elaborate descriptions of the "original Egyptian Arcana, Machynka simultaneously corrected the Wegener's "Egyptian" details to bring the deck more in line with modern Egyptology. Several of the trumps have been given Christian's egyptianized titles: The Fool as The Crocodile, The Hermit as The Veiled Lamp, etc. The court cards become Master, Mistress, Warrior and Slave. The pip cards show geometrically arranged suit symbols against evocative individually-painted backgrounds that reflect the cards meanings.
