[edit] Fazio degli Uberti Dittamondo Book 2, Chapter V, verses 88-98 ca
Morto costui di tosco, io mi trovai
del dispietato e superbo Nerone,
per lo qual caddi di ricchezza assai. 90
When he died for poison I found myself
of the merciless and proud Nero,
by cause of whom I lost my richess.
In the most beautiful of my dresses,
poor me! this cruel put fire,
following his will and not his reason.
He killed many senators and his own brother
and his wife and listen how evil he was,
he devided the body of his mother.
He was the first to persecute the christians....
Rome is speaking. The subject of the first verse is emperor Claudius.
